Penny Patch Quilt

When I saw the quilt along for the 4 Penny Patch, I knew it would make a great gift quilt for my mom.  I had some Shelburne Falls by Denyse Schmidt that I had been hoarding and a few of her fabrics from Jo-Ann's that were perfect.  I really, really like the way this turned out!

I quilted it in a diamond pattern.  If I were going to make this one again, I would definitely try a different pattern for that.  I think the dogwood flowers that the originial quilt uses might be fun to try.

I have never labeled a quilt before, but I thought this would be a good one to start with!  The backing is a full sheet.  This is a pretty large throw quilt, 60x72.  I'm very happy with it, and I hope my mom likes it as well!

Elephants on Parade

Baby quilts are my favorite.  They come together so quickly and are so satisfying!  This one is for a sweet little girl for someone I work with .  I hope sweet Sybil loves it!

Second Saturday Sewing bag

I just finished testing another bag pattern from Sara at Sew Sweetness.  She is calling this bag the Camp Stitchalot bag, but it will definitely be a Second Saturday Sewing bag for me.  This bag is huge (Lily kept saying it was a purse for a giant!) and has tons of pockets.

One side has 3 large pockets and a flap with 3 magnetic snaps to keep it closed.  They allow the bag to be secured tightly even when it's stuffed full!  The pockets are big enough for a cutting mat and all of your rulers.

There's a pocket on the other side.  I need someone to notice how well my stripes line up.  There are 3 separate pieces sewn together and I think they line up pretty well.

The inside has 4 huge zipper pouches and a pocket on each side.  The vinyl was a little tough to work with, but I made it work.

This bag will be great for carrying around sewing supplies.  It would also be good for art supplies.  It would also be cute in a kiddie fabric for a trip bag for kids.  Toys/snacks in the zipper pouches, coloring books, magazines, books, etc. in the pockets.  Sara does a great job with pictures and instructions, so go check out her pattern shop!  (Her Aeroplane bag is on my list of stuff to make!)

Velocity Bag

I signed up to be a pattern tester over at Sewsweetness.  Sara has been making a ton of bags and adding the patterns to her shop.  I really like her bags and her patterns.  They are really straight forward and easy to follow.
My daughter had been begging for a "purse" to put around her neck (messenger bag style).  When Sara posted this bag, I knew it would be perfect.  My daughter's favorite color is yellow and she picked out this Amy Butler fabric from my stash.

This bag has tons of pockets on the inside and the outside.

My first time putting a zipper pocket inside a bag.  It didn't come out exactly how is was supposed to, but I like the yellow peeking out from the edges.  (I do know what I did wrong here, but I like it so I didn't fix it!)
My daughter LOVED it!  I was really happy with how it turned out.  If you're interested, you can go to Sewsweetness to see the bag made by tons of testers and to order it.  If you're looking for a bag pattern, she has some great one.  I've been eyeing the Aeroplane bag!

Remarried to the Farmer

Christy and I have decided to make all of the Farmer's Wife blocks.  I've started these once before but was very unhappy with how they were turning out.  I found a Yahoo group that has all of the paper piecing templates, so they turn out much neater.  I have done the first 2.

This is called Attic Windows.  My pieces are mixed up a little, but I don't mind.  I like it.

This one is called Autumn Tints.  I really like the larger print fabric.  I'm using scrap packs from Sew Fresh Fabrics for all of my blocks.  The packs have some really great fabrics that I can't wait to use.

This is something else I'm working on.  I'm trying to use up all of the scraps I have left from my Gypsy Caravan quilt.  I had a whole pile of odd sized pieces, so I'm trying something new.

I've not been posting much, but I've been doing tons of sewing.  I made wrap skirts for my 10 Brownies.  I've finished a baby quilt and have one ready to bind.  I finished my T-shirt quilt.  I'm just horrible at taking pictures of the finished products!  I'm trying to get back to it!

Baby Benton

I made this quilt back in October, I think, for a friend's baby.  Baby Benton is finally here and enjoying his quilt!

I still love this quilt and have all of the fabric to make a similar one for myself.  I really like the oversized star.  If you're interested, the tutorial can be found here.
