When I saw the quilt along for the 4 Penny Patch, I knew it would make a great gift quilt for my mom. I had some Shelburne Falls by Denyse Schmidt that I had been hoarding and a few of her fabrics from Jo-Ann's that were perfect. I really, really like the way this turned out!
I quilted it in a diamond pattern. If I were going to make this one again, I would definitely try a different pattern for that. I think the dogwood flowers that the originial quilt uses might be fun to try.

Beautiful quilt, Jennifer! I love the pattern!
that's great that you labeled it! I need to start that, too. your mix of shelbourne falls and the other patterns turned out very nice. it's a great combination of colors and neutrals, well balanced. I think the diamond quilting is a good choice for this quilt, but I'm going to try the dogwood when I get around to quilting mine. I'm sure you're mom's going to love her quilt!
Lovely finish! I like your idea of signing the quilt. the diamond quilting looks great! I will probably do some sort of straight-line quilting on mine as well.
I wanted to do the dogwood quilting on mine, but time wise I knew it would be this time next year before I would finish the quilt!
I have yet to even try free motion quilting....in fact, the penny patch is the first larger size quilt that I've even attempted to machine quilt.
I went with diamonds but mine are twice the size of yours. I wish now I had taken the time for the lines in between, but I'm pretty happy with the finish.
Yours looks awesome!
Your quilt is delightful! I love your color choices!
love this quilt!! I must add it to my quilting 2014 list.
